Privacy Policy

1. Plain-English summary

Fungalscan is designed to need as little data about you as possible. There is no account, no login, and no name or email required to use the app. Scan history lives on your device. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising trackers, and your scan photos are not used to train AI models.

2. What we collect

The data the app and website touch falls into these buckets:

• Scan content: the photo of a product's ingredient label, plus the ingredient text we extract from it.
• Subscription status: whether you have an active Apple subscription, processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We never see or store card or payment details.
• Basic, anonymous usage analytics: events like "paywall viewed" or "scan completed", without identifying you.

3. Scans and your photos

When you scan a label, the photo is sent over HTTPS to our API at api.fungalscan.app. There it is passed to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) solely to read the text of the ingredient list. Photos and ingredient text are not used to train models, and are not retained for advertising.

We may cache ingredient text and verdict results, and may log unrecognized ingredient names, so that the app gets more accurate over time. That cache is keyed by ingredient strings, not by you. It is not personally identifying.

Cached ingredient data and diagnostic logs may be retained for a limited period for service improvement, debugging, and accuracy purposes, and are deleted or aggregated when no longer needed for those purposes.

Your scan history is stored locally on your device only. Deleting the app removes it.

4. Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles billing, renewal, refunds and cancellation. Subscription state is mirrored to our backend through RevenueCat, a third-party service we use to check entitlement on app open. We do not see your card number, billing address, or other payment information.

To cancel or manage a subscription, open your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or follow Apple's instructions.

5. Analytics and tracking

We collect lightweight, anonymous product analytics (for example: paywall viewed, scan completed, share card opened) to understand which parts of the app are useful. These events are not joined with advertising profiles. We do not run advertising SDKs in the app, and we do not sell data.

6. Your controls

• Deleting Fungalscan from your device deletes your local scan history.
• You can cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings.
• You can ask us about any data question by writing to the address in section 9.

7. Children

Fungalscan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@fungalscan.app and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top, and post a note in-app when changes are material.
