Privacy Policy

1. Plain-English summary

Fungalscan is designed to need as little data about you as possible. There is no account, no login, and no name or email required to use the app. Scan history lives on your device. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising trackers, and your scan photos are not used to train AI models.

2. What we collect

The data the app and website touch falls into these buckets:

• Scan content: the photo of a product's ingredient label, plus the ingredient text we extract from it.
• Subscription status: whether you have an active Apple subscription, processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We never see or store card or payment details.
• Basic, anonymous usage analytics: events like "paywall viewed" or "scan completed", without identifying you.

3. Scans and your photos

When you scan a label, the photo is sent over HTTPS to our API at api.fungalscan.app. There it is passed to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) solely to read the text of the ingredient list. Photos and ingredient text are not used to train models, and are not retained for advertising.

We may cache ingredient text and verdict results, and may log unrecognized ingredient names, so that the app gets more accurate over time. That cache is keyed by ingredient strings, not by you. It is not personally identifying.

Cached ingredient data and diagnostic logs may be retained for a limited period for service improvement, debugging, and accuracy purposes, and are deleted or aggregated when no longer needed for those purposes.

Your scan history is stored locally on your device only. Deleting the app removes it.

4. Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles billing, renewal, refunds and cancellation. Subscription state is mirrored to our backend through RevenueCat, a third-party service we use to check entitlement on app open. We do not see your card number, billing address, or other payment information.

To cancel or manage a subscription, open your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or follow Apple's instructions.

5. Analytics and tracking

We collect lightweight product analytics (for example: paywall viewed, scan completed, share card opened) to understand which parts of the app are useful. These events are processed by PostHog, a third-party product-analytics provider, and are tied only to a random, app-generated identifier, not to your name or email (the app has no account or login). The events are not joined with advertising profiles, are not used to track you across other apps or websites, and we do not run advertising SDKs in the app or sell data.

On this website (fungalscan.app), we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and referral sources in aggregate. Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless, does not use cross-site identifiers, and does not collect personal information. IP addresses are processed only briefly to derive coarse geography (country / region) and are not stored alongside the page-view event. We do not use Google Analytics. We do not run an advertising SDK, an affiliate script, or a tag manager on this site. Some outbound product links are Amazon Associates or other affiliate links: when you click one, Amazon or another retailer may set its own cookie on their site so a purchase can be credited to us. That tracking happens after you leave fungalscan.app. See section 6.

6. Affiliate links

Some links on this site that point to a retailer are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something after clicking one. We are a participant in the Amazon Associates Program. Any link that earns us a commission is marked as a paid link where it appears.

A commission never affects a verdict. Every rating on this site is computed from our ingredient database by the same engine, and a product cannot be recommended here unless that engine returns no fungal-acne triggers for its published ingredient list. We do not accept payment to rate a product favourably, and no retailer or brand has any input into a verdict.

Affiliate links do not add any tracking to this site. We do not run an advertising SDK, an affiliate script, or a tag manager here, and the site remains cookieless as described in section 5. What does happen is on the other end of the click: when you follow an affiliate link, the retailer or its affiliate network receives the fact that you arrived from fungalscan.app and typically sets its own cookie so a purchase can be credited to us. That happens on their site under their privacy policy, not ours, and it only happens if you click.

7. Your controls

• Deleting Fungalscan from your device deletes your local scan history.
• You can cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings.
• You can ask us about any data question by writing to the address in section 10.

8. Children

Fungalscan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@fungalscan.app and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top, and post a note in-app when changes are material.
